Delivering a 22-Shed Broiler Project in Lincolnshire: A Fully Integrated, Energy-Efficient Poultry Site
JF McKenna recently completed a major 22-shed broiler project in Lincolnshire for Amber Real Estate Investments, working in partnership with PD Hook (Hatcheries) Ltd. This site showcases how modern poultry production can combine scale, performance and sustainability using a fully integrated package of equipment from our key brand partners.
The project features a complete ventilation and climate management solution built around Fancom technology, including Lumina control computers, sensors and FarmManager software. These systems ensure each shed maintains precise airflow, temperature and humidity control, supporting bird uniformity and energy-efficient ventilation. As highlighted in our brochure, Fancom systems are specifically designed to improve animal performance while reducing energy costs through smart control of fans, inlets and sensors
To support long term efficiency, the site also incorporates Vencomatic Group heat exchangers, which recover warm air and reduce ammonia, dust and heat loss. Heat exchangers are increasingly used in large scale farms to improve sustainability and lower running costs.
Lighting throughout the houses is provided by HATO Corax LED systems, delivering high frequency, flicker-free light for improved bird behaviour and feed intake. The Corax is designed specifically for broilers and is controlled through the Fancom control computers for seamless dimming and lighting programmes.
Feed systems on the site include Chore-Time’s Konavi feeders and flex augers, ensuring uniform feed distribution and reliable performance across all sheds. Konavi’s open design supports clean feeding and fast access to feed, contributing to strong early flock development.
Water management is handled by Lubing’s drinker and misting systems, providing clean, consistent water delivery and effective cooling when required. Lubing is recognised for its long lifespan and reliability, and their systems play a key role in maintaining litter quality and bird hydration throughout the crop cycle.
External storage is supported by Collinson silos, offering robust feed storage with premium build quality and capacity options. These silos are designed for durability and efficient feed handling and integrate seamlessly with the site’s Chore-Time auger systems.
The buildings themselves were supplied by Powell & Co Construction Ltd, ensuring a high quality structure to support the advanced equipment installed throughout the project.
This 22-shed installation demonstrates what can be achieved when modern climate control, efficient energy systems and high performance equipment work together. The site is already delivering strong results with improved sustainability through solar integration, heat recovery and intelligent control systems.
